Value Stream Technical Operations Lead - Finance

Enterprise-Wide Technology (EWT):

EWT is the UK Firm’s internal technology division and is accountable for delivering a range of services to the UK Firm. Taking a holistic approach, this includes gathering requirements, solution design, build and run and the execution of complex change portfolios focused on security, data, core infrastructure and business applications.

Senior Manager:

The Finance Tech Ops Lead is accountable for operationalising the holistic strategy set by the Value Stream Platform Owner and delivering to the operational needs of the respective business process areas. The role will also act as a functional SME and provide advice and influence senior stakeholders, such as the Business Process Owner and Business Partners. The Tech Ops Lead will provide functional and system expertise to senior stakeholders at a functional level. They will lead a team who are responsible for the coordination, management and delivery of services to improve the Finance processes from both a business and technical perspective

The Role:
  • Responsibility for the operational delivery of applications within the Finance area, including developing roadmaps and managing forward planning activity for the area.
  • Act as primary techno-functional point of contact for functional improvement recommendations and changes for respective business areas
  • Liaise with EWT Enterprise Architect on the wider technology landscape to ensure alignment and fit
  • Coordinate with Value Stream Release Manager on release planning, scheduling and deployments, and support conflict resolutions
  • Liaise with Data Management CoE to provide input on data impact assessments based on any data model changes and to ensure compliance to data consistency and quality standards
  • Responsible for managing budgets, people management and performance across the Finance Tech Ops team.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on major incident root cause investigations and be the point of escalation for the Finance Tech Ops team
  • Recommend functional improvement suggestions, backed by service performance data, to improve service usage and experience
  • Lead point of contact with vendors on discussing options and decisions on changes to in-scope Finance applications
  • Liaise with other EVC Support Team Tech Ops Leads Finance to share knowledge, best practice and align to the strategy set by the Platform Owner
  • Provide vendor service performance insights to the Service Ops Lead
  • Encourage and enforce knowledge management and operations artefact currency
  • Represent the Finance Team Ops team in appropriate governance forums. Chair relevant governance forums to ensure process metrics and KPIs are understood and adhered to by relevant process practitioners
  • Work closely with E&I Integration Architect and Resilience Lead to ensure all security and resilience requirements and standards are periodically audited, monitored and adhered to


The Person:
  • Experience in application management and maintenance operations in Technical Operations as a Lead or Manager, in previous roles
  • Experience in professional services (desired)
  • Technical and functional experience in S4 Hana or SAP products, CRM, Atlassian products (JIRA) preferred
  • Knowledge of back-office business process experience
  • Knowledge of SAP Transports for code movements and release deployments desired
  • Working knowledge of relevant service management standards and frameworks ( e.g. ITIL, Agile, DevOps, COBIT etc.)
  • Experience managing co-located cross-functional teams and product vendors to manage integrated application landscape
  • Have good interpersonal and senior stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver value
  • Innovative mindset for driving a continuous improvement culture
