As a result of our continued growth, the Product Innovation & Client Onboarding team have a brand new role for a UX Design Lead.


Your purpose (in a nutshell)

Hermes is looking for an experienced and passionate UX Design Leads with 6 or more years’ experience to join a rapidly growing UX and product team. You’ll have the opportunity to shape our products alongside other industry experts while educating others about design best practices.

You will be responsible for helping to increase customer retention rates by personalizing the user experience and facilitating discovery. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our internal clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.

Your day will be filled with a varied workload ranging from the strategic to the tactical, ideating and creating, but mostly, you will help the team fashion a world where experience is at the top of the company’s priorities and helps them attract new clients, empower existing ones and amplify customer views to turn the company into the UK’s carrier of choice.

As a UX Design Lead you will hands on, but will eventually manage small team of designers take responsibility for across on of our 4 platforms.


You will be accountable for:

  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams, product owners, product managers and business owners to manage delivery of the product roadmaps within your portfolio, plan capacity and inform roadmap timelines
  • Lead your team’s execution of projects, and structure the suite of artefacts that need to be produced for each project. This can include user stories, personas, feature flows, information architecture, creating wireframes and prototyping, depending on the needs of the project.
  • Lead your team’s efforts to validate design concepts, and to conduct A/B testing of new features and products where appropriate.
  • Lead the creation of a programme of continuous data tracking across all key products, features and services in your portfolio (in collaboration with the UX Optimisation lead), and ensure that all work delivered by the team provides measurable outcomes for the business and end users
  • Lead the development of a suite of research to assess the suitably of concepts and new features that are being requested by business stakeholders within your portfolio
  • Lead efforts to engage with product managers to ensure that data and research plays a key role in shaping product roadmaps and ensure that both user and business needs are met in UX solutions.
  • Lead your team’s execution of projects, and structure the suite of artefacts that need to be produced for each project. This can include user stories, personas, feature flows, information architecture, creating wireframes and prototyping, depending on the needs of the project.
  • Be the voice of the user, and vigorously defend design decisions.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience working in enterprise level organisations or agencies with a strong UX focus
  • Participating in co-creation or facilitation workshops
  • Working on desktop apps, mobile apps and dynamic websites
  • Experience creating medium to high fidelity wireframes in sketch or similar tools
  • Creating high fidelity prototypes using Invision or similar tools
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous experience


Technical & People Skills:

  • Working with, or creating design systems and design pattern libraries
  • An in-depth understanding of user centred design principles
  • A thorough understanding of qualitative user research techniques
  • A good understanding of analytics and quantitative testing and analysis
  • A basic understanding of agile working practices like Kanban and Scrum

A basic understanding of front-end development, CSS Frameworks
