We have exciting opportunities for Class 1 Night Drivers (or Cat C+E Night Drivers as we call it internally) to join our growing depot team.

£ 12.61 per hour and overtime paid at £18.92 per hour (paid after average 40 hours per week) to £25.22 per hour for a 6th shift.

What You’ll Do:

This isn’t an easy job and at times you will have to deal with large volumes but at Hermes we act and adapt. Fast. You’ll be given the space to get the job done, thinking quickly to hit moving targets.

Our drivers ensure the safe, efficient and FTA compliant driving of our vehicles from our Depots to other sites in our Network including Delivery Units, Hubs and retailers delivering or returning palletised and loose Parcels and Packages. You’ll ensure all parcels are delivered, paperwork updated and help our depot staff with heavier items from time to time.

You’ll report in to a Shift Manager, who’ll assign the routes & the vehicle that you’ll be responsible for on your shift. The loads you’ll be transporting aren’t individually heavy, but when you’re transporting up to 40,000 items at a time you’ll need to ensure our customers parcels get from A to B quickly and safely. We appreciate that the great British roads and weather don’t always play nice, so you’ll need to keep us up to date of any potential problems, so we can help you with an alternative route.

Our Class 1 Night drivers work on shifts. Our full-time contracts are 40 hours per week with some weekend working on a rota basis; but we normally let you know your rota at least 4 weeks in advance. Essential Skills & Experience Required:

• You’ll need a full UK driving licence with Class 1 (Cat C+E) entitlements, drivers CPC and digital tachograph to join us as a driver. We welcome newly qualified Class 1 drivers however all drivers will need to undertake a short driving assessment to ensure you are safe to drive.
• Great communication skills as you’ll be maintaining contact with the depot, ensuring any issues are communicated throughout the day.
• A safety mindset – you’ll ensure safety first in everything you do.
• During busier times you may need to assist with warehouse duties, so you may need to assist with occasional manual handling of heavier and large items.

• Be comfortable using a hand-held computer terminal.
• Be friendly and approachable as you’ll be one of the many Hermes ambassadors.
