Let’s grow together … Purpose of the role To demonstrate a thorough approach to the risk assessment of both consumer and corporate applications and have the ability to apply these skills across a broad range of financial products. Underwriting loans from receipt of application through to release of funds, ensuring that the Department’s excellent standards of customer service and commitment to providing regular communication to our business introducers is maintained at all times. Underwriters must be able to develop and maintain strong business relationships with our introducer panel that adds value and directly contributes to business growth. The position will involve working some unsociable hours over a 7 day Duties and responsibilities

  • Awareness, understanding and contribution in the achieving of the business area’s objectives
  • Achieve personal objectives set by your Manager
  • The evaluation of motor loan applications utilising the appropriate credit reference data, fraud prevention techniques, credit policy and lending guidelines and procedures
  • The analysis of supporting documentation
  • Effective handling of all incoming new lending enquiries
  • Where appropriate authorise the sign off of payout completion applications
  • Possess the ability to work with a degree of autonomy and empowerment but making fully informed referrals where necessary to more experienced team members/higher mandate holders or Credit Risk Department
  • Where possible be a mandate holder, actively utilising the mandate across the department
  • Ensure decisions are delivered in line with the prevailing credit policy and lending guidelines and agreed deadlines and service standards
  • Participate in meetings
  • Attend training courses that are identified to assist in personal and role development
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with external service providers, introducers, and internal customers Skills
  • Awareness and understanding of all prevailing regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Strong business awareness and excellent risk management skills
  • Ability to work within a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely on all levels
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office applications Qualifications and experience Previous experience and working knowledge of working in the motor underwriting industry. Working hours 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am
  • 5pm and Saturday 10am
  • 4pm on a rota’d basis. We offer hybrid working at the moment which involves 3 days in the office and 2 days at home
