Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Site Communications who will serve as the local on-site expert for all communication-related matters regarding Airbus Commercial Aircraft in the UK, coordinate and execute the community relations and internal and external communications on and for the different sites ( Filton near Bristol and Broughton near Chester).
As a proximity manager for a team of 3 communication professionals and placement students on behalf of HQ-based (Toulouse, France) communication leaders ensuring personal needs such as Development Plans are in place and annual objectives are set and monitored.
You will have strong experience in 360 communication and, ideally, have worked in and understand an industrial environment where you have demonstrated your ability to interact and build relationships with senior site managers. An understanding/experience of working in a International company would be desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Design and align the national communications plan for Airbus Commercial Aircraft in the UK, in full coordination with the National UK Communications coordinator for Airbus, ensuring the plan reflects the needs of the UK-based businesses (predominantly Operations in Broughton and Engineering in Filton)
  • Ensure Communication- related services provided to the UK by suppliers are delivered on time, to cost and quality.
  • Leads the execution of the Airbus Commercial Aircraft communication plan in the UK to ensure Airbus business objectives are achieved. This includes participating in Airbus top management meetings, providing advice on communications topics and managing business communications requests.
  • Drives the efficient collaboration with and provides site specific knowledge to the the wider Communications organization where appropriate to ensure alignment and consistency across all communications.
  • Support the UK sites by proposing and implementing new services for community-specific visits, working in collaboration with other visit operators such as Early Careers and Employment Marketing.
  • Collaborates with the appropriate representatives on Community Relations-related matters for the planning and execution of local activities such as sponsorships, donations and partnership projects which are aligned to the global Community Impact Charter and reflect the UK sites’ community engagement objectives.
  • Monitors and evaluates news and media coverage of Airbus Commercial Aircraft in the UK and is proactive in escalating, mitigating, identifying opportunities and managing Airbus communication response and statements.
  • Manages the crisis communication for the Airbus Commercial Aircraft in the UK in alignment with relevant stakeholders (for example the UK Crisis Management Team) and as per the company crisis communication policy and guidelines.
  • Maintains strong relationship with all of the site’s external audiences and stakeholders, and supports all relevant stakeholders across the wider department in capturing stakeholder requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure the activities of the UK communication team are compliant with the appropriate frameworks, guidelines and policies such as sponsorship frameworks, E&C policies and accepted Procurement practices.

REQUIRED QUALITIES AND COMPETENCIES FOR THE JOB

Personal qualities:
  • Strategic thinking while able to act and implement quickly
  • Understanding of UK media and how to effectively manage topics in the media

  • Brand awareness
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Fluent in English, other languages an advantage
