Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Transport Team Leader to join our team and provide unrivalled service to our customer. The purpose of this role is to manage the day to day Transport operation, providing leadership and motivation for the team to ensure the site meets its daily performance targetsWhat will you be doing as a Transport Team Leader?
  • Manage, direct, and monitor the transport operations and overall performance of the delivery teams to increase efficiency and maximise service and performance
  • Maintain engagement with the team and carrying out 1-2-1’s with core employees.
  • Support in employee investigations, return to works, welfare meetings and disciplinaries.
  • Be first point of contact in Managers absence to support and maintain contact and communications with internal departments, Suppliers, Managers & Stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, setting examples for team members and the organisation around commitment, work ethic and professionalism.
  • Ensure HSE best practice is adopted and regularly reviewed across all sites within your responsibility, supporting the H&S team taking action as required
  • Provide a first-class service, delivered within the legal constraints of the site operator’s licence and Road Traffic Act legislation
  • Ensure the operation is fully compliant with legislation and company tachograph policy relating to infringements and tachograph control for all drivers
  • Adhere to all Wincanton policies and procedures.
Experience, Skills, And Attributes
  • Proven management work experience in a high-volume transport environment
  • Understanding of all relevant driving legislation including tachograph policies, driving hours and the road Traffic Act
  • Holding a CPC is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels
  • Able to implement and manage change
  • Numerate, with experience of delivering targets within budgetary constraints
  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet required deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
