Job Description

The Continuous Improvement Training Manager role is to be one of the central CI subject matter expert providing Coaching, Training and Guidance to a high standard to Wincanton Management and the CI Community; as well as supporting new business implementations and major project deployments.

This is a national role so location flexible as the successful candidate could work from home.

How will you contribute?

  • To provide leadership and best practice guidance on Continuous Improvement for our management teams
  • To bring experience and a subject matter expertise in the areas of continuous improvement to deliver great results
  • Support the operations and central management teams in ensuring that colleague engagement is ever improving
  • Design and deliver professional action-centred learning events at Wincanton’s Training Facility, On-site and via Teams
  • Work with the operations teams to ensure the end to end process flows, variation and data are understood to enable effective CI efforts
  • Plan and prioritise your time across multiple stakeholders and projects to ensure your skills are focused on the highest return for Wincanton overall
  • Turn data analysis into insight that is timely, accurate and relevant that can be used to drive positive actions across the network.
  • Track trends, recommend and implement continuous improvements for all activities.
  • Share best practice across the network ensuring learnings are utilised across all sites.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert for CI throughout the business.
  • Support other Head Office functions as required with data, analysis and insight.
  • To build and maintain positive relationships with peers and stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Provide management, expertise, collation and guidance on all Continuous Improvement projects and activities.
  • To manage the Continuous Improvement prospectus and management development programme
  • Provide CI training to Wincanton’s clients and external Customers
  • Assist with Continuous Improvement proposals, coordinate and monitor progress. Utilise Value Stream Mapping and coordinate with Operations/Contracts Managers to establish process Improvements
  • Liaise with the site General Manager and Senior Management team to identify and achieve pre-determined target savings for the site through Value Stream Mapping and other activities
  • Support the team in establishing CI in contract start-ups to ensure the Wincanton Way is embedded.
  • Capture and co-ordinate all Continuous Improvement projects resulting from training and utilise established reporting methods for these projects.
  • Provide support in maintaining Wincanton CI Scorecards.

What will you bring?

Essential

  • Experience in developing and delivering training courses
  • Experience of working at a similar level and have knowledge of Lean and process improvement tools and techniques to black-belt level or equivalent.
  • MS Office and statistical proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Minitab)
  • Knowledge of Project Management tools & techniques
  • Experience of managing change in a challenging environment
  • Process orientation, with a track record of implementing process improvements and controls within a supply chain environment
  • Experience of working closely with clients and developing effective working relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Flexibility in terms of travelling to sites across the UK where required

Desirable

  • Knowledge of work-study techniques within a warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of standard transport metrics and data capture e.g. telematics
