Transport Supervisor

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and organized Transport Supervisor with a background in the furniture industry to oversee and optimize our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation of furniture products, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining efficient logistics processes. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics, transportation regulations, and experience in the furniture manufacturing or retail industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of furniture products.
• Utilize route planning software and industry knowledge to enhance delivery efficiency.
• Train and mentor transportation staff to ensure high performance and adherence to policies and procedures

Fleet Management:

• Oversee and manage the transportation operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of vehicles and drivers.
• Maintenance to address vehicle issues promptly ensuring they are well-maintained, properly serviced and maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs and ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.

Dispatch and Coordination:

• Efficiently manage dispatch operations, ensuring that deliveries are scheduled and coordinated effectively.
• Communicate with drivers, warehouse staff, and other relevant departments to streamline transportation processes.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay informed about transportation regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Monitor driver compliance with safety regulations and implement corrective actions when necessary. Monitor driver performance, including adherence to schedules, driving behaviour, and customer service

Customer Service:

• Collaborate with customer service teams to address delivery inquiries, concerns, and special requests promptly.
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering products on time and in excellent condition.

Inventory Management:

• Work closely with warehouse and inventory teams to coordinate the loading and unloading of furniture products.
• Implement inventory control measures to minimize discrepancies and losses during transportation.

Cost Management:

• Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising service quality.
• Negotiate contracts with carriers, suppliers, and logistics partners to secure favourable terms.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in transportation management in the furniture industry.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards and logistics processes.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with route planning software and logistics management tools.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £32,000.00 per year
