What You’ll Do:

You will be responsible for managing the Hub Transport workforce requirements for a 24/7 operation against processing volumes, ensuring accurate numbers of resource arranged for all shifts to fall in line with productivity and budget KPIs. Your role will include planning, communicating, reporting and analysis whilst working with key business stakeholders to ensure performance and KPI’s are being achieved.

  • Building the workforce planning infrastructure for the Transport Operation that includes effectively resourcing in line with volumes. The infrastructure needs to account for all periods of the year with comprehensive strategies in place to plan for additional resource when required.
  • Development of the workforce management function in the Transport Operation, whilst working closely with the operation and third-party providers including Sub-contractors to ensure the plan meets the needs of the business.
  • Working alongside Procurement reviewing Sub-Contractors performance and rates.
  • Ensuring service level agreements and productivity targets are met by each shift and held accountable when not achieved.
  • Leading deployment and analysis on daily actual vs requirement variances for continuous quality and productivity improvement.
  • Monitoring actual and forecasted Agency against budgeted plans and challenge, investigate and understand any variance to plans.
  • Coordinating and communicating all reporting related to workforce management to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Being the main point of contact for performance challenges across the operation, keeping senior stakeholders up to date while providing advice and support.
  • Actively seek out issues in operational demands and present solutions to work through issues.
  • Analysing previous busy periods to improve utilisation and identify gaps, improvements, and changes.
  • Producing real-time performance and productivity data to support the operational management team, focusing on strong performance, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Working with the senior management team to find efficiencies and drive operational improvements.
  • Communicating to both employees and agencies the roles and requirements.
  • The reconciliation of all agency labour and Sub-contractors against invoices.
  • Using internal systems to plan holidays in line with business needs and cover sickness & absence with appropriate cover.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Advanced excel skills to build resource planning tools
  • Business and Management Qualification
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced, 24/7 operation
  • Significant experience in Transport operations and forecasting, capacity scheduling and real time management.
