Summary

The purpose of the role is to improve the European Distribution Center’s (EDC) transportation offering to existing customers and clients, while developing new capabilities to attract new clients. It will ensure that the EDC is always prepared for changes in legislation related to transportation and will become the EDC’s subject expert in transportation requirements for the EMEA and APAC region. The role will liaise with our providers and act on any changes required in operations or our data exchanges to ensure that the outbound EDC pipeline remains operational. You will support the design and develop a reporting structure that creates transparency in the transportation supply chain for internal and external stakeholders. An essential skill for this role is import and export knowledge and experience. The candidate must demonstrate up to date knowledge of paperwork and legislative requirements to ship into the EU as well as Non-EU European countries.

They must be able to prioritize their workload and have an appreciation of quality management principles and systems. They will have an attention to detail and analyze data and use it to make connections and drive continuous improvement in the role.

How you will make an impact:
  • Working with the Senior Distribution Directors first line to develop transportation strategies that will meet and exceed the needs of our current clients and attract new business opportunities.
  • To initiate and drive projects that will improve our internal operational despatch capability ensuring that it can meet our business and clients’ objectives and future needs.
  • Develop and utilize internal networks that serve to inform and assure our clients of our capability and keep the distribution leadership team aware of upcoming campaigns or changes in our workflow. Making sure that we remain agile and able to adapt our offering in line with customer expectations.
  • The role will be the import and export subject area expert for the EMEA region.
  • Ensure all transport and consumable invoices are checked and submitted on time.
  • Ensure all inbound traffic has a timeslot and time slot adherence is monitored and reported on.
  • Proactively review daily health of carriers/lanes and identify and solve customer challenges.
  • Develop a regular benchmarking process to ensure the Wiley distribution system remains industry leading.
  • Create transportation daily, weekly, and monthly reporting cycles.
  • Respond to customer and stakeholder requests on a day-to-day basis.
  • Adjust UKCORE TMS to ensure proper execution of outbound freight.
We are looking for people who:
  • CSE - grade 1
  • GCSE - grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or grades A*, A, B, C
  • Experience of distribution, logistics and customs processes.
  • Familiar with industry quality, cost, and delivery measures.
  • Analytical skills coupled with the ability to analyze distribution delivery and cost data and form conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience in using MS office tools to analyze and articulate data.
  • Able to work across process and create productive networks with colleagues across all business functions that role interacts with.
  • Ability to extract key data from ERP system, SAP preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, ppt, teams)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Executes with minimal guidance and shows strong initiative
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
