Transport Coordinator


The core purpose of the transportation coordinator is to manage the distribution of Ibstock Concrete products. The main objective is to ensure that all outgoing deliveries are made on time and as efficiently as possible. Responsibility to maintain delivery schedules and tracking deliveries, as well as provide tracking information to customers and internal departments as needed. This is a fast paced position, so the ability to make decisions and be able to promptly resolve distribution issues and have strong negotiation skills is key.

Key Accountabilities

  • Optimise transportation of Ibstock products by planning and scheduling deliveries within agreed service levels and in the most efficient way possible.
  • Analysing customer demand and working to optimal route efficiency, guaranteeing timely delivery of product.
  • Stakeholder liaison and relationship management.
  • An active up to day knowledge of inventories, stock demands, shortages, delays, and deployment.
  • Provide information on delivery scheduling to customers and internal customer service teams.
  • Ensuring that load planner/ load Board is accurate and up to date..
  • Proactively supporting and enhancing the one-team mentality approach with the Customer Service team and other commercial support functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Essential

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Good geographical knowledge for planning purposes.
  • Previous knowledge of working as a transport planner.
  • Strong time management.
  • Continuous improvement mind-set
  • Excellent listening and questioning abilities.
  • A professional and proactive attitude with strong problem solving skills.
  • Positive and approachable manner.
  • Resilient and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Working Knowledge of Windows based IT Systems
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively.

Desirable

  • Transport / customer service experience.
  • Exposure to the building industry desirable but not essential
  • A Knowledge of JDE (ERP System )
