Job Introduction

We have a great opportunity for a Transformer Control Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The successful candidate will deliver expert technical knowledge to the Brush Transformers on the control section of Transformer design and Tap Changer design, ensuring that the capability and function of the transformer product exceeds customer requirements.

Role Responsibility
  • Design of control and protection for transformers and reactors.
  • Responsible for producing schematic control drawing for transformer control cubical, remote-control panel and tap changer.
  • Communicate and interact with internal supply chain management and electronics manufacturers regarding component related questions.
  • Produce manufacturing instructions for production.
  • Support aftermarket on tap changer replacements, retrofit and refurbishment.
  • Responsible to identify the spare parts based on customer requirements.
  • Perform tendering activities by interpreting the customer’s specification and offering the most cost effective control solution.
  • Responsible for issuing contract information to allow the procurement of out-sourced components for Control Cubicle, RCP and Tap Changer.
  • Ensure that all designs and applied technology are compliant with the relevant technical, safety and environmental standards, codes of practice etc.
  • Analysis of test results and feedback into database for future use and reference.
  • Working with the customer to achieve the required specifications.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:
  • Minimum HNC in Electrical /Electronic Engineering or equivalent, Engineering degree preferrable.
  • Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in similar role at a Transformer Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawing.

Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • This role would involve meeting and dealing directly with customers to discuss Transformers and its associated components requirements.
  • Problem solver with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
