A fantastic opportunity to join a modern and growing practice in their Tax team where you’ll provide corporate and shareholder tax advisory services to their well-established portfolio of larger corporate clients and private equity houses working alongside the Corporate Finance department.

The Tax department is led by 13 Tax partners with 130 staff spread over the firm’s nine offices working collaboratively across a multi-discipline of taxes.

With the core of the Corporate Transactions team working out of the Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Poole and Southampton offices, the successful candidate will need to be present in one of these offices at least two days per week.

What you’ll be doing day to day

Corporate team members will be expected to work across a range of advisory work, supporting directors and partners in delivering projects. Expectations of level of responsibility would include the following:

Scoping and pricing new projects.
Preparing risk assessments to identify key tax issues to be considered.
Liaising directly with clients and engagement teams to understand and document legal, accounting and commercial background to engagements.
Drafting and reviewing tax advice.
Seeking clearances and advance assurance from HMRC.
Reviewing transaction documents for consistency with tax advice given.
Reviewing tax deeds and warranties in transaction documents.
Reviewing target company information and preparing transaction due diligence reports.
Liaising with non-UK firms in the PKF network to obtain input on international tax projects and preparing advice on the impact of UK and non-UK taxes.
Providing coaching to junior members of staff.

About you

At least 5 years’ experience of tax with a focus on company and shareholder taxation, structuring and transactions.
Excellent technical tax knowledge.
CTA qualified – ACA or ACCA an advantage.
Experience of working within practice, with the competence to deal with managing a portfolio of assignments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to deal with people at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven coaching ability.
Self-motivated and able to show initiative.
Accurate and able to work well under pressure.
Sociable and enjoys being part of a wider team.
