Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work towards becoming a qualified Plant Operator?
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a “can do” attitude who is eager to learn, to join our team at our Thirsk Transfer Station.
The successful candidate will have an interest in waste management and a willingness to obtain licences for loading shovel, 360 tracked excavator and a forklift truck, WAMITAB and IOSH Managing safely, as part of a Yorwaste Training Agreement.
If you have excellent customer service skills, have the ability to work under pressure, and take pride in your work, this may be the role for you.
Full training will be provided, however applicants must hold a valid UK driving license.
The hourly rate will increase to £11.05 per hour following 12 months in the role, subject to the successful completion of required licenses.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To comply with all Health and Safety, site permits, Environmental and quality requirements of the Company.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES:
To ensure there is cover at the Weighbridge for lunchtimes, breaks, holidays and absence.
Assisting with site members of staff in site duties as when required.
Assist with maintaining all site operations, access roads and working area to the highest possible standard.
Assist with Safe & Efficient Operation of mobile shredders and screens to maximise throughput whilst maintaining quality on a busy compost and wood operation.
Carry out daily clean downs on plant as part of the site Fire Prevention Plan (FPP).
Train towards the use of mobile plant equipment to carry out production operations, and loading of out-sales vehicles.
Obtain and forward all operational information including hours and fuel to the appropriate administrator on a daily / weekly basis.
Ensure all items of mobile plant are washed, greased, fuelled as per agreed maintenance schedule.
Ensure all machine servicing requirements are forwarded to the appropriate personnel within appropriate timescales to allow all plant to be serviced in line with agreed servicing schedule.
Ensure maximum efficiency is obtained from all plant mobile and static to maximise profit and minimise costs where possible.
Undertake any other duty as required to cover operations in the event of holidays and sickness.
Responsible for safeguarding the health and safety of all personnel within their area of control.
General Housekeeping including sweeping and litter picking to keep site litter to a minimum.
Ensuring compliance with all Company Procedures/work practices as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Qualifications
Enter into a Yorwaste Training Agreement to work towards obtaining the following licences:
Loading Shovel
360 tracked excavator certification
Forklift licence
Must hold a valid UK driving licence
Knowledge
Knowledge or willingness to obtain:
A good understanding of Health and Safety working requirements
A good understanding of Yorsafety basic standards
A good understanding of the need to recycle, how to recycle and how to get the best quality of recyclable materials
