A fantastic opportunity has emerged for Anaesthetic Theatre Practitioner to join our friendly team in our new Day Surgery Unit in Prince Philip Hospital and our existing Day Surgery Unit in Amman Valley Hospital. Our Day surgery team are forward thinking, dynamic and innovative, and we are looking for like-minded nurses/practitioners with experience of working in these Units.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within Prince Philip Day Surgery and Amman Valley Ophthalmic Day Unit. The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to the client group and will work primarily within the Day Surgery Unit.

You will prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed and expected high standard. Work closely with the multi- disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. Participate fully in a structured competency based programme, as required.

You will take charge of the unit and as an effective leader and role model; you will work flexibly as team leader, ensuring that standards are maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved. You will be involved in helping to develop all aspects of the unit in line with the Health Board visions and plans. This new unit provides an exciting and varied challenge, which will give you an opportunity to broaden and advance your expertise in a busy but supportive environment.

Applicants must be enthusiastic and hard-working individuals who are looking to play an integral part in the Unit’s pro-active team. A flexible approach to a six-day working week, and a caring nature, together with effective organisational and communication skills are essential. Hours of duty will include standard internal shift rotation flexible to a six-day working week.
