· We are looking for a Senior Test and Validation Engineer to join our rapidly growing team to take responsibility for the test and validation of high-performance motor products. Reporting to our Test and Validation Manager and working in our new facility in Welshpool, you will be responsible for setting test plans and executing tests, gathering data and reporting on results to internal and external customers. This is a key role within the business, supporting the growth and diversification of our products and markets.

· This role would suit a highly motivated engineer with a background in the test and validation of new products. The ideal candidate will have experience in testing of electric motors and/or controllers. You will be working hands-on with mechanical, both low and high voltage (up to 1000V), electrical systems and software forming motor/controller test rigs. Software will include MATLAB, LabVIEW, CANalyser amongst others, with training provided where required. You will identify and implement any equipment needed to perform testing or improve facilities; ensuring accuracy, repeatability and industry standards are always met. This may include input towards fixturing design, creation of device specifications and innovative test methodologies.

· You must possess a desire to work in a small but rapidly growing business, relishing the responsibility and opportunity this brings. You will be responsible for all aspects of validation and design verification testing of high-performance products for both in-house and customer-specific development projects.

Key Responsibilities will include:

· Managing and undertaking both internal and external tests

· Producing engineering reports for testing of motors and controllers as per project requirements

· Specification of mechanical fixturing and test measurement equipment; preparation of test rigs and equipment; setup of data acquisition systems; creation of automated rig control scripts; supervision of Test Technicians; post-processing and analysis of data

· Writing test specifications and carrying out tests against customer or internal requirement specifications

· Promoting repeatability and robustness of test processes with a focus on safety

· Liaising with external test houses to assist with the delivery of tests, including reporting and maintaining to agreed schedules

· Maintaining test equipment, advising and implementing improvements as required, including HS&E activities relating to test facilities

· Ensuring a safe working environment by following, supporting and maintaining working practices

· Ensuring work complies with TS16949 policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

· Proven, hands-on experience in a test, or development environment for electromechanical or rotational systems (preferably with direct experience in electric motor testing)

· Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background with the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to the analysis and interpretation of test results, as well as to the specification of mechanical and electrical assemblies to support in-house testing

· Previous experience leading or mentoring a small team

· Strong analytical and judgment skills including the ability to troubleshoot and advise on solutions in the area of testing

· Ability to take a hands-on approach in test setup and instrumentation/data acquisition

· Practical knowledge in the design, use, and application of electric machines or similar components would be beneficial

· A creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to practically resolve issues and innovate where required

· Good initiative, with the ability to manage own time and priorities

· A flexible approach to work, with a desire to thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving environment

· Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams within the organisations

· Proficiency in MATLAB, LabVIEW and SolidWorks preferred

· Willingness to travel as required.
