UK Research and Innovation

Contract: Open-Ended

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £50,702 - £56,336 per annum (depending on experience)

The Organisation

Job Purpose

As an experienced Test Manager, you will work in-house contributing in the Quality Assurance of different systems for UKRI. With a passion in cutting-edge technology, you will provide test leadership and innovation to ensure appropriate solutions are in place to meet business requirements.

Utilising your strong technical skills, you will lead in providing quality solutions to the business through the introduction of new standards and technologies, as well the optimisation of current key technologies. You will need to have an aptitude to pick up new skills quickly and a desire to provide coaching and mentoring to QA Analysts within the organisation.

A test manager takes ownership of the quality assurance and testing (QAT) strategy as part of a broader risk-based approach and takes ownership for delivery and strategy implementation.

Test Managers
  • are responsible for test improvement and optimisation
  • may promote and advocate test capabilities internally and outside the government
  • take responsibility for talent, succession planning and supplier management
  • make important decisions relating to test within the context of the delivery environment

Qualifications And Experience Required
  • Degree level qualification is not essential but is desirable, it is more important to be able to demonstrate experience on current projects you have worked on and your role in them
  • Supervising test teams
  • Performance improvement initiatives and managing change
  • Strong commercial awareness and customer focus
  • Experience and knowledge of software development processes and tooling including test automation frameworks
  • A previous technical software development role would be an advantage
  • Use of an agile development methodology would be an advantage
  • Experience with continuous integration & continuous deployment.
