JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lumentum is expanding the Operations activities in our Wafer Fab in Caswell (Northamptonshire) and we are recruiting Test Engineers to join our Test Operations Team. We invite candidates who want to make a meaningful contribution to Lumentum success while learning from industry leading experts in photonics.

The Operations Test Engineers are responsible for commissioning and maintaining automated test equipment (ATEs) for optoelectronics components (Lasers, Modulators, Detectors, and Photonic Integrated Circuits).

In Lumentum Caswell we produce optoelectronic chips for the Telecom and Automotive Market segment. We are looking for engineers with a production mindset. The role is multi-disciplinary, hands on, with a software foundation and skills such as test hardware, instrumentation control, and data analysis.

The Test Engineers own and drive Operations projects such as implementation and deployment into volume manufacturing of test solutions, Kaizen based improvement activities. Operations Test Engineers are responsible for tools availability to the shop floor, report on projects and test area performance to the Operations Test Manager. There is scope to develop new approaches to solving problems and employees are encouraged to have an innovative mindset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transfer test solutions (on-wafer test, bar-test, Chip on Carrier test, Burn-in) from R&D to high volume production

• Commission Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to support product ramp in Operations

• Improve Manufacturing Test Operations productivity by focusing on minimizing production losses (time, speed, quality), downtime and recovery time

• Improve capital efficiency, ergonomics and robustness

• Prepare equipment specifications accounting for optimal test performance, required test cycle times, design commonality, serviceability, equipment flexibility and HS&E compliant

• Update test software plans to enable product variance running on existing test tools

• Troubleshoot and fix SW bugs and update test SW for stability and feature list

• Collaborate with cross functional teams in chip and test development R&D, product design and manufacturing to ensure products can meet DFM/DFT criteria

• Analysis of test data to drive yield and process improvements

• Monitor tools SPC and perform gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R)

• Maintain documentation such as Authorized Operator Instructions (AOI), Out of Control Action Plan (OCAP), Equipment Bill of Material (BOM), schematics and build specifications, equipment and area Risk Assessment, EHS related documentation

• Provide training to Operators and Technicians

• A significant part of the role is in a wafer Fabrication Plant cleanroom environment

ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related discipline

• 3-year software experience and capable of debug, modify and work on complex software projects • Hands on and with experience in test automation in a production environment

• Relevant experience in test software systems and automation

• Understanding of measurement systems Gauge R&R and statistical process control

• Communication, teamwork and presentation skills are essential

• Ability to successfully work in a deadline driven, production environment is required

ADVANTAGOUS REQUIRMENTS:

• Data analysis using JMP, Minitab or equivalent and design of experiments

• Understanding of optical devices, communications and transmission.

• Previous experience of working with semi-conductors and/or in a semi-conductor fabrication facility.

• PXI / GPIB test platforms.

• C/C#/VB.NET.

• NI TestStand, Visual Studio experience advantageous
