Summary
The role of the Test Camera Delivery Team Leader is to lead a team of engineers in the delivery of Space Imaging’s Test Camera platforms which are used for operating and testing our current and next generation Imaging Sensors. The role requires a multidisciplinary engineer to manage the team and will be expected to take an active part in the delivery of our Test Camera platforms. The engineers in the group plan, oversee, and review the various functional engineering teams inputs into the test camera design and manufacture, in accordance with the project delivery lifecycle.
  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver our internally designed test camera platforms on time, on cost and on quality with regular communication of status against plan and any escalations for support required.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams of engineers and utilise project management techniques to deliver the work packages for the project.
  • Provide Engineering governance through the project life cycle.
  • Ownership, maintenance & delivery of the Engineering Management Plan for the delivery of the test camera equipment, in accordance with the lifecycle management approach.
  • Responsible for the management of the requirements, including maintaining the compliance and verification matrix (CVM) to the requirements. Ensuring the scope of the project is clearly understood, documented and managed.
  • Detailed scheduling of projects in Microsoft Project and publishing into the MS Project Server system.
  • Contribute to the roadmap for our test camera platform development in the division by providing recommendations and positively driving change.
  • Drive quality standards throughout all areas of the team whilst monitoring and reporting on the team’s performance against quality metrics.
  • Support personal development of team members to increase skills and knowledge of individuals and the team as a whole.
  • Resource management of the team members using MS Project and EPM.
  • Provide necessary inputs to bids and the local cost models associated with the teams work packages.
  • Provide Engineering support to Operations to rapidly resolve non-conformances, yield improvement or data quality.
  • Ensure compliance of processes and best practise to deliver successful engineering governance and gate reviews.
  • Work alongside teams outside of the group, including Electronics, Software, Mechanical, Project Management, Project Lead Engineering, and Product Verification & Test to develop and deliver test camera platforms to the requirements.
  • Follow and lead by example on health and safety protocols and initiatives.
Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications
  • Understanding of system design, development, manufacture, and verification, and project delivery lifecycle management.
  • Broad knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, e.g. mechanical, thermal, electrical.
  • Knowledge of test system development and analysis techniques.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • A positive outlook with a "can do" attitude and an ability to challenge and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to communicate, positively influence and negotiate at all levels within an organisation.
  • Ability to multi-task on several assignments and complete all to a high standard, with a high degree of energy to deliver on commitments.
  • Good team player with the ability to work effectively with team members of varying personalities and abilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Whilst not essential, the ideal candidate would have experience leading teams of engineers of all levels of ability.
  • Broad test engineering experience with an understanding of all aspects of test engineering including but not limited to systems, mechanical, electrical, optics, and software.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience providing technical, scheduling and cost inputs to work packages for bids and projects.
