Role Purpose

The Technical Systems Engineer is part of the Infrastructure team, and is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining new and existing systems and infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver infrastructure projects such as software migrations and implementations.
  • Implementing DevOps solutions / IaaC where possible.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving escalated customer support issues.
  • Software deployments into live and production environments.
  • Automating infrastructure tasks wherever possible.
  • Day to day management and responsibility for monitoring, logging and investigating alerts via the IIS monitoring platforms.
  • Monitor, log and investigate backup issues.
  • Provide support to junior team members and provide senior support via IIS service desks and project management software.
  • Any other projects assigned by management.

Experience, Knowledge and skills

  • Experience with enterprise management of workstations with tools such as Group Policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and Server Roles
  • Understanding of networking, IP Addresses, DNS, routing and switches
  • Knowledge of server virtualisation, specifically VMware / ESXi.
  • Microsoft Windows Server experience - 2016 and 2019.
  • Experience of monitoring platforms
  • Linux Desktop and Server support (Desirable)
  • Be able to take ownership of a task or project to see it through to completion and to exceed expectations whenever possible.
  • Have interest in learning about current/new/future technologies to help the Company, customers, themselves and their team
