Role Purpose

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is part of the Infrastructure team, and is responsible for ensuring that the platform is maintained to ensure peak performance, compliance to security, whilst supporting new solutions and changes.

Ensure that our infrastructure and systems are effective in supporting our growing user base.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting several windows domain environments.
  • Managing and supporting DNS/ DHCP / DFS environments.
  • Managing and supporting IIS core products for example, MVD and other IIS applications.
  • Attending data centre for tasks such as server implementations, network outages and project work.
  • Providing support to junior team members.
  • Providing senior support via IIS Service Desk and project management software.
  • Taking inbound support escalations.
  • Day to day management and responsibility for monitoring, logging and investigating alerts via the IIS monitoring platform.
  • Monitor, log and investigate backup issues.
  • Any other projects assigned by management.

Experience, Knowledge and skills

  • Microsoft server experience - 2012, 2016 and 2019
  • Knowledge and of Group policy and implementing group policy changes.
  • Managing and supporting the PKI infrastructure, including creating end user and server certificates, monitoring SSL expiry.
  • Powershell scripting for task automation and server management.
  • Knowledge of server virtualisation, specifically Vmware.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and using the CLI.
  • Knowledge of networking, preferably Juniper.
  • Firewall management and troubleshooting network / port issues.
  • Knowledge of NASs / SANs and storage protocols.
  • Experience of monitoring platforms, preferably Manage Engines Operations Manager.
