The Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) is a unique facility designed to accelerate the discovery of new functional materials. To achieve this aim, the institute operates a shared laboratory space, in which over £10M of state-of-the-art equipment is made available to both our academic and industrial client base. A particular focus is the use of robotic technologies and laboratory automation to provide benefit, not just in the increased speed and throughput of experimentation, but by also improving the reliability and reproducibility of resultant data.
We are currently looking to recruit a Technical Support Supervisor in the area of Automation & Formulation, who will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality research and technical support to MIF customers, via the provision of training and services such as contract research, collaborative research, equipment-hire and consultancy.
The successful candidate will have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with further experience in Materials Chemistry and/or Formulation Science research in an academic or industrial setting. With an excellent hands-on background in operating and maintaining complex scientific equipment, you should have demonstrable expertise in the application of automation within a laboratory setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this customer facing role. Individuals with experience in product development or analytical services are encouraged to apply.
