Our client is looking to employ an experienced Technical Sales Manager. The position performs a variety of functions. These duties include but are not limited to travelling to customer sites, understanding technical challenges and providing solutions, prospecting and consulting with new customers and industries.

Main responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Gather a database of all relevant decision makers.
  • Prospect for new clients by monitoring the market, networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential clients.
  • To meet defined growth expectations, develop a pipeline of new business through knowledge of the market.
  • Plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will show potential clients the benefits of working with the company.

Development:

  • Work with the MD to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Travel to potential, current and lapsed customer locations to understand their technical challenges.
  • Utilising your technical expertise, provide pre-sales demonstrations and tool education that demonstrates the company’s quality, price and delivery.
  • Develop a rapport with potential and current clients and provide support that will continually improve the relationship.
  • Negotiate terms of trading, tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both customer and Company needs.
  • Participate in and assist with the development and specification of new tools as required.
  • Providing commissioning and tool maintenance services as required.

Account Management:

  • Monitor the economic performance of all accounts and take the actions necessary to reach the financial objectives.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers through managing and interpreting their requirements.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and provide direction and knowledge to the wider business.
  • Identify opportunities for marketing campaigns and activities that will lead to an increase in sales and ensure all opportunities are fully maximised.

Results & Reporting:

  • In collaboration with the MD, forecast sales targets and track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Submit weekly progress reports on all sales and business development activity to the MD.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Business orientated salesperson with a successful track record in technical sales.
  • You will be a goal orientated and targeted individual with solid new business development sales habits.
  • You will have considerable passion for the tool and plastics industry.
  • You will have strong hands-on technical ability within the toolmaking industry.
  • You can demonstrate success and performance against targets.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to meet with customers and identify technical challenges and inefficiencies.
  • A great planner that works proactively and intelligently to maximise sales.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet, assessing and planning troubleshooting strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain an excellent rapport with customers and colleagues.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.
  • A self-motivated and highly driven individual that is happy to work independently as well as cohesively as part of a team.
  • A genuine team player that prides themselves on their ability to tailor their sales approach and educate customers to secure the most profitable solution.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
