Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

Technical Support Engineer (MFTS) - , Shawbury - UK Military Flying Training System (Rotary Wing) Reports to Continuing Airworthiness Manager

To ensure general assistance from a technical standpoint acting as the technical interface between UK MFTS MRO and Airbus Helicopters (AH)

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:

  • Answering standard technical questions directly or for complex questions with the assistance of AH, using WebTek/Seibel to record customer communications;
  • Managing, as a central focal point, all Technical queries for MFTS fleets.
  • Gathering aircraft fleet data for UK MFTS and feeding into Seibel;
  • Communicating with the TAA / Mil CAMO and, where required, seeking their endorsement for deviation from Approved Document set;
  • Provide a proactive approach to repetitive defect analysis and reporting;
  • Perform other airworthiness activities as directed by the Technical Services Manager based on workload and task prioritisation in support of the MFTS operation


The post holder would ideally have the following Knowledge and Skills:

ESSENTIAL

  • Must have thorough knowledge of EASA regulations relating to Part M and Part 145 Airworthiness and Maintenance requirements.
  • Experience with SAP and ERP software.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience with Webtek.
  • Knowledge of MAA RAs

We require the post holder to have the following Education, Qualifications or special training:

ESSENTIAL

  • Part 66 B1 or B2 Type rated on EC135 T3H and / or BK 117 D2

DESIRABLE

  • Type rating on other Airbus Helicopter Types.

The post holder should have the following experience:

ESSENTIAL

  • 5 Years’ experience as licensed Engineer

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of Military Aviation


Key performance indicators:

  • Assist in maintaining aircraft availability levels of >98% at Shawbury (including deployments)

Other requirements:

TRAVEL

  • Travel between AHUK sites including Oxford and RAF Valley
  • Occasional European travel may be required
