Job Description

The successful candidate will apply their analog IC design experience to develop complex analog and power system modules for a wide range of microcontrollers and across multiple process nodes. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the architecture and design of power systems. Low power, area sensitive, CMOS design techniques are emphasized.

Essential Functions
  • Design and develop architecture and circuit blocks for PMUs and other complex, low power, area constrained, analog modules for MCHP microcontrollers
  • Closely Interact with the Architecture division to help with module definition.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members
  • Interact with Product and Test to address issues found during validation or production
  • Design and help validate test rings (hands-on in the lab).
  • Present training on topics of interest
Requirements/Qualifications
  • PhD or Masters in EE with 12+ years of Analog design experience preferred. Bachelors in EE with outstanding experience will also be considered.
  • Must have experience in the definition, design implementation (analog and digital), system integration, and application and design of PMU including switching DC-DC converters and LDOs.
  • Desired experience with switching DC-DC converter noise suppression in sensitive analog/RF design environments.
  • Must have a track-record proving a thorough understanding of the trade-offs involved in design and layout of complex analog macros in an area and power constrained environment
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have substantial knowledge of low power analog design, and a significant understanding of how custom analog integrated circuits are used in end-customer applications.
  • Must be capable of evaluating multiple topologies/architectures and make practical trade-off decisions with team.
  • Should be able to control design and layout of complex analog circuitry.
  • Must have ability to demonstrate all aspects of circuit needs in thorough design reviews.
  • Must be able to understand the greater system, not just the component currently being designed – to address potential system level impacts early in design/definition process.
  • Must have a high capability to execute practical decisions leading to production worthy circuit designs.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced engineering environment that is simultaneously responsible for new analog circuit design and addressing bugs/weaknesses on existing circuits.
  • Experience in design of hardware, software, and/or firmware for microcontroller-based systems is a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate well. Must be able to write concise technical documentation.
