Job Description

Based at Microchip’s UK office in Winnersh Triangle, Wokingham, the Tax Manager will provide support to the European Tax Team for a fixed period of 12-18 months. This role will be involved in a wide range of activities including tax reporting, compliance, tax planning, transfer pricing and global advisory projects for our multiple entities and jurisdictions across Europe.

Main Functions
  • To join the European Tax Team of 3 based in the UK and Ireland, providing maternity leave cover
  • Responsibility for preparing and reviewing tax provisioning for European entities for quarterly US GAAP reporting using OneSource, with involvement in the implementation of Oracle EPM
  • Working with the finance teams in Europe to ensure tax accounting entries are being reflected correctly for group reporting and local stats where required
  • Preparation and review of tax provisions for UK and Ireland statutory accounts, including liaising with external auditors as part of Group and Local audits
  • Liaising with external advisors to complete and review UK and Ireland corporate tax returns
  • Verifying all European corporation tax filings/payments are being met
  • Reviewing and assisting with the co-ordination of transfer pricing documentation and country by country notifications for European entities
  • Involvement in any global tax advisory or restructuring projects being carried out in Europe including assistance with accounting, legal and tax implications and liaising with external advisors
  • Assistance with maintaining appropriate tax governance frameworks including SAO, CCO, tax strategy and SOX internal controls for tax processes
  • Involvement in any tax audits for Europe
  • Assistance with legal entity rationalisation projects in Europe, including working with external advisors and internal finance teams to progress liquidations or mergers.
Job Requirements

Qualifications And Experience
  • Post degree Accounting/Tax qualification such as ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA
  • Big 4/Top 10 Accounting Firm experience, and experience within a large multinational a plus
  • Significant tax accounting experience under IFRS (and US GAAP a benefit)
  • Experience of UK/European tax legislation a plus
Special Requirements
  • Willingness to travel within territory, with occasional travel elsewhere in Europe and US for specific training
  • Must be able to speak English and other European language skills would be advantageous.
