Can you build positive working relationships with children and adults?Are you someone who is patient and can demonstrate empathy?If this describes you then you could be just the person we are looking for. Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school in Abergavenny. This role will require you to offer support to pupils in class and in small groups provisions. Your role as a Teaching Assistant is to support the Class Teacher to support pupils according to the individual needs and personalities. We are looking for someone who is proactive and can use their own initiative to make a positive difference and help pupils engage within the classroom.Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Encourage pupils to interact with other and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including and pupils with Additional Learning Needs
  • Use strategies, in liaison with the class teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Provide detailed and regular feedback to teacher on pupils achievement progress, barriers etc.
Teaching Assistant Qualities
  • Compassion and sensitivity towards children
  • Can demonstrate empathy when dealing with sensitive matters
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Can deal with situation in a calm and patient manner
  • A good sense of humour
