SUPPORT FOR PUPILS
- Attend to pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes including, social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
- Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate
SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHER
- Follow the instructions of the class teachers and teaching assistants with planning and delivery of lessons
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts in line with school protocols and school behaviour policies
- Contribute towards resourcing teaching, by developing and making resources as necessary for children in the class or year group
- Listen to children read, read stories and tell stories to individuals or groups of children
- Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed
- Under the guidance of more experienced colleagues, undertake pupil record-keeping as requested
- Support the effective use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use
- Assist with the display of pupils’ work in the classroom and around school
- Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/learning activity and assist pupils in their use
- Undertake routine administrative tasks e.g. photocopying, filing, collecting money, checking deliveries and placing goods in stock and maintaining records of stock, reproducing work sheets for agreed activities
SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL
- Undertake training and CPD as required
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
- Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunch time as required
- Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher
- Be a role model for pupils and colleagues in terms of behaviour and attitude
- Be punctual and professional at all times
- Maintain confidentiality, safeguarding procedures, health and safety, other statutory requirements and the policies of the governing body and Local Authority

Desired qualifications
- 5 GCSEs, grade A-C/9-4 (or equivalent), including English and mathematics
- Experience of working with children in a primary school
Future prospects
On completion of the apprenticeship, an opportunity for a permanent role within the business may be available.

- Candidates must be able to travel to Blackhill for an 8am start – please check travel arrangements prior to applying for the role
- An understanding of safeguarding
- Full training will be given on in-house systems/procedures
