Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving, diverse, co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol. We are looking for a dynamic and highly capable Teacher of English, to join a popular and successful department, as well as contribute to the wider life of this busy holistic school community. This post is offered from the Autumn Term 2024.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and a great communicator with an excellent knowledge of KS3, GCSE English and will be expected to teach A Level English language, literature and film studies.

This position would suit either an NQT or a more experienced teacher seeking an opportunity for professional development. You will receive a competitive salary and other benefits include free lunches during term time, free on-site parking and use of the school’s gym facilities. The school also offers a discount on school fees for staff at the school.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom. We are an inclusive school with a strong pastoral system which puts student welfare and sense of belonging at the forefront. In our most recent ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.

Collegiate Senior School occupies a stunning thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network and provide an outstanding education for students aged from 3 to 18.

We reserve the right to invite candidates for interview prior to the closing date where we have sufficient suitable applications. Therefore, we encourage interested applicants to submit their interest as soon as possible.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 10th December 2023.

It is expected interviews will be held week commencing 11th December 2023.

We are committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce. Collegiate School is proud of its diverse student body and dedicated to attracting and retaining staff who feel respected and able to give their best, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce that better reflects our community. We aim to truly represent all sections of society and applications are welcomed for all suitably qualified candidates.
