Who are we?

The Dorset Studio School is a thriving, mainstream 11-16 co-ed secondary school situated within the superb facilities and exceptional teaching environment of the 750-acre Kingston Maurward estate. We are a secondary school with a specialism in the ‘Land and Environment.’

Our progress

The Dorset Studio School progress score has consistently placed us among the better performing secondary schools in the County. This year, students made more progress with us than was the case in more than half of many long established much larger schools within Dorset. Only three Studio Schools nationally fared better, with Dorset Studio School achieving the best Studio School progress scores south of London.

The role specifics

We are now looking to appoint a colleague who can bring additional expertise to our fantastic staff team. The successful candidate will be able to make a significant contribution primarily to our Key Stage three provision, though there is scope to include Key Stage four teaching. They will be able to confidently prepare students for assessments, whilst also embedding the language skills required to support successful and happy lives. They will develop in students, a love of literature alongside the accompanying appreciation of some of the most important works the country has known. Within the subject, students study a range of texts from Year 7 onwards with those at GCSE typically having comprised, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ ‘Macbeth,’ ‘An Inspector Calls’ and ‘Power and Conflict’ themes in poetry.

Dorset Studio School is oversubscribed and is proud of its strong reputation. As an evolving and growing school, the range of appointments we make, and the skill sets we look for is ever expanding. We are developing our provision in many of our staff teams. It is possible that a TLR in one of these teams could be considered for the right candidate.
