The Policy and Improvement Section is a critical function within the Council, supporting the delivery of many key statutory areas.

As a Diversity and Inclusion Officer you will be responsible for leading on, supporting and promoting good relations and practices, able to provide advice, guidance and support on equality related issues.

You will lead on the coordination of Merthyr Tydfil’s work around equalities, improving outcomes for people and working with all areas of the Council.

You will lead on and support in meeting our statutory duties within key pieces of legislation and regulations E.g. the Equality Act 2010, Public Sector Equality Duty and Socio-Economic Duty, by facilitating and supporting the Strategic Equality Plan and supporting strategic development.

You will lead on identifying areas for improvement in development, monitoring and review, engaging with staff and our communities to inform our strategies and work.

The role will work as part of a policy team and will contribute to plans related to diversity and inclusion, e.g. Older Persons agenda.
