Description of the job :
A vacancy for Sustainability and Chemical engineers (m/f)has arisen within Airbus in Filton. You will join the Airframe Engineering department working on Sustainable activities.

This includes:
  • To assess the chemical composition of current product during the qualifications but also the one in development and provide guidance to reduce EHS impacts;
  • To guide Airbus defining chemical policy to better anticipate regulation evolution
  • To expertise composition of product/materials chemical
  • To ensure that Airbus will select future sustainable materials for our aircraft

For this mission, you need to have a passion for chemistry but also to understand how it interacts with all living species and have a good understanding of the applicable and future regulations. It means that you know what means that you have some minimum understanding on what it means : CAS numbers, H350, REACH, authorisation, intermediate reaction and possible impact on environment and Health and safety.

We are looking for an open-minded and curious person able to share his knowledge and enthusiastic about the idea of making things change!

Task & accountabilities :
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and leading chemical assessment to secure the sustainable compliance of Material and processes
  • Ensuring project management of multifunctional teams working in parallel,
  • Finding innovative and creative solution to better integrate Substance concerns in our decision making process and support Eco-design approach in Airbus business,
  • Providing clear explanation on how new regulation could impact our industry
  • Representing us in external committee to explain some aeronautics specificities
  • Exchanging with Supplier in order to improve the sustainability of our materials

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills :
You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge in Chemistry,
  • Knowledge in Main chemical regulation (UK and European),
  • Creative, open mind-set, willingness to explore and learn,
  • Team player mindset and be able to explain to non specialist complex subjects
  • Experience in working in international context

This position has been graded: Band VA.
