This is a new role being proposed in Licence Programmes as part of ED2 plan (our 5-year strategic programme to deliver Electrical Distribution price control for our consumers) and will be leadingSP Distribution to confirm and accelerate work on commitments made in the sustainability domain.

This role will also be responsible for supplier environmental and sustainability performance, to monitor and continually improve the company’s environmental and sustainability supply chain management, aligned with ISO20400 principles.

Collaborate with a range of key stakeholders both internally and externally, developing open and effective relationships to ensure high performance and compliance with OFGEM commitments made in ED2.

What you will be doing

Provide specialist sustainability supply chain management to the SPM Licence, including the Contract Development and Contract Management teams, with responsibility for coordinating specific environmental and sustainability RIIO-ED2 commitments.

Provision of support to enable the Licence to meet their environmental and sustainability commitments and obligations. Being responsible for the co-ordination of sustainable supply chain management and consultation with contractors, stakeholders, and regulators.

Supporting the specification of required products and services to facilitate sustainability improvements. Assisting with the review of contractor’s environmental and sustainability tender documentation with particular emphasis on environmental and sustainability regulations and requirements. Ensuring environmental and sustainability requirements for suppliers are embedded in their contracts.

Ensuring compliance with company and legislative environmental policies and with environmental and sustainability related contract requirements, via contribution to contracting process, auditing of contractor company processes and liaising with the Environmental Site Co-ordinator and central Environmental Team and their inspections of contractors on SPEN works.

What you will bring

In depth knowledge of Supply Chain Management or Environmental, Understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory guidance, and standards” Understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory guidance, and standards.

As well as understanding of the environmental and sustainability issues associated with supply chains and the methods to manage and reduce (e.g., ISO20400, PAS2080, BS8001) Sound planning and analysis skills - anticipate problems and plan solutions, have ability to plan and deliver work programmes autonomousl.

Experience in managing projects and working as part of a project team

Responsibilities

Developing and implementing new methods, techniques and practices to improve supply chain sustainability and environmental performance, you will also hold the following responsibilities

Conduct variety of engagements with supply chain to communicate SPEN’s requirements and expectations, now and the future trajectory, and to understand supply chain capabilities, concerns, and barriers. Work with suppliers to seek to address concerns and barriers and facilitate improvements Identify opportunities within our supply chain that will support SPENs decarbonisation and social value outcomes Collaborate with appropriate departments and team members to ensure an aligned approach Co-ordinate external supply chain sustainability programmes, including supporting our Sustainable Growth Agreement with SEPA and our Supply Chain Sustainability School Partner activities and learning pathways. Identify and monitor supply chain sustainability performance indicators, taking action where performance is inadequate.
