Global Engineering are at the centre of this ambition, and we will need to lead the way for asset master planning and brilliantly execute bigger and more complex projects.About This RoleWorking closely with site operations, sustainability technical and business partnering functions Sustainability Project Engineer will be leading capital expenditure projects to support the delivery of the carbon reduction agenda across 32 distilleries, 4 maltings, 1 bottling hall, maturation and coopering footprint. Sustainability team will deliver net zero carbon in the Scotch category operational footprint by 2030 by implementing the carbon reduction programme.The Scotch Category produces all Diageo’s Scotch whiskies and a significant proportion of gin, vodka and rum. It is the industry leader in terms of spirit production and plays a key role in ensuring supply of bottled product to markets globally. This role will work across the Scotch footprint as well as our co-products and bio-energy facilities.Key Responsibilities Include
  • Using specialist engineering knowledge to deliver single-discipline and multi-discipline capex projects to accurate technical specification
  • Managing scope, budget, quality and schedule for capex projects
  • Co-ordinating and managing external contractors and suppliers
  • Supporting operations teams with developing long term strategy for site assets
  • Delivering annual capex plans across Scotch ensuring projects are delivered on time, within cost and expectations of the business
  • Liaising with external resources / contractors and deploy appropriate resources to ensure project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental standards
Project Engineer will be supporting projects across our Scotch footprint, which may include sites across the central belt of Scotland, as well as Speyside, the highlands and Islay. This will vary as determined by business priorities. This role will not have direct line management responsibilities.To Be Successful At This Role, You Will
  • Have previous experience in biomass/bio-energy facilities, heat-pumps and other types of sustainable technology as this role will support Diageo’s sustainability agenda
  • Have one of mechanical, electrical, process or chemical engineering qualifications
  • Have experience in project management (APM, Prince 2 or equivalent qualification)
  • Have excellent analytical and communications skills with ability to lead and drive improvements
  • Have or be willing to work towards a NEBOSH qualification
  • Full Clean driving licence due to the travel requirements in this role
