SUPPORT WORKER (MATERNITY COVER), BRIGHTER FUTURES, MANSFIELD, 3-MONTH MATERNITY COVER (POSSIBILITY TO BE EXTENDED), 37 HPW, FRWK03 £18,278 - £19,426

A rare opportunity has arisen for someone who is passionate about promoting independence to join the Brighter Futures service on a 3 – month maternity cover, with potential to be extended.

Brighter Futures is a floating support service working with adults affected by a learning disability, autistic spectrum condition or acquired brain injury. Through a combination of one-to-one support and opportunities to get involved in groups, activities and learning we empower people to live in the community with greater independence and improved quality of life.

Brighter Futures operates mainly Monday to Friday during office hours. We work with individuals in their homes across Nottinghamshire, with an office base in Mansfield. Travel expenses are paid, but you will need a current driving licence and access to a car or means to travel to multiple locations during the working day, many of which are not accessible by public transport. We believe that staff wellbeing is key to providing the best support for our service users and therefore have several initiatives in the service to help staff reach the right work/ life balance, including agile working opportunities.

As a support worker you will hold your own caseload and, guided by the individual support plan, assist people to achieve their goals, all the while developing their skills and confidence. Excellent rapport building skills are vital, as is the ability to work effectively with the wider team. Good written communication and experience of recording support notes are also required. An understanding of the barriers our client group face as well as knowledge of benefit processes, housing law, debt support and any other issues related to a person’s ability to live independently are desirable.
