Support Worker (Children’s Homes)
Salary: £18,579 - £19,977 per annum + benefits + overtime (paid at time and a half) + enhanced weekend rates (time and a third)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Holidays: 247.5 hours per year (including bank holidays), increases with length of service

Role Summary
At Seashell we support those with profound and complex learning difficulties, sensory impairments, communication disorders, autism and complex health needs. We are recruiting for amazing Residential Support Workers to join our team of heroes who make a real difference to our children every single day they come to work! Our team of support workers work in our state of the art 4 bedroom children’s homes at our site in Cheadle Hulme, near Manchester airport. (No travel required)
We’re looking for somebody who would love to spend the day with our children (aged 2 – 18 years old) and support them with a range of different things that they may require additional support with. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (including working alongside medical staff, local authorities, specialist practitioners, therapists, education teams) to ensure we are providing the best possible care the children here.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a care setting supporting children/people with complex learning disabilities and communication, behavioural and sensory impairments or in a mental health setting is desirable but not essential. We also consider life experience.
  • GCSE English and Maths (grade A-C) or level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification is a requirement for these positions.
  • If you have experience working with complex health needs, e.g. tracheostomy or peg feeding experience, this would be advantageous

The details:

  • You’ll work a rolling rota with shifts over 7 days (every other weekend,* andno nights*)
  • Challenging behaviours will present in these roles so to fully support our young adults, candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment (full training is provided)
  • This role will include helping with their daily routine, developing their independence skills, personal care, leisure activities or helping them to communicate.
