Initial contract duration of 6 months. Hybrid, mostly working from home. Monday – Friday 37.5hrs.

PAYE: £30 p/h Umbrella: £40 p/h

The role:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer you will be working in the Manufactured Materials category team and will be managing the APQP activity with suppliers across the UK and Europe. Some travel to suppliers will be required. You will assist in the selection, development, management, and assurance of defect-free performance of the Distribution Business’ supplier base with the objective of overall quality improvement.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Participating in supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing process development.
  • Assisting in the supplier corrective action process including containment, root cause investigation, and corrective action.
  • Ensuring suppliers use quality tools effectively.
  • Working with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are met through the effective use of Minitab, FMEA, Control Plans and SPC.
  • Reviewing the supplier quality resources for new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier related issues, improving process capabilities, and ensuring timely project launches.
  • Responsible for determining that all requirements are met by the supplier for new or updated products.
  • Measuring supplier quality performance according to established procedures; driving appropriate improvements to meet established targets.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.

What is required:

  • A solid understanding of PPAP (Product Parts Approval Process)
  • AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) exposure.
  • IATF (International Automotive Task Force) experience
  • Supplier Quality Core Tools experience.
  • Strong APQP experience.
  • Experience working with supply chain quality
  • Supplier maintenance experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
