Job Summary

This full-time course commences in October 2024 to be completed by October 2025 with University of Bournemouth.

We are seeking to recruit highly motivated and innovative practitioners to train as Health Visitors or School Nurses, to lead 0-19 Public Health Nursing and deliver great service to our children and families in Hampshire.

Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN’s) work at individual, community and population level in a preventative social model of health designed to empower families to take control of and improve their own health and wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

We are inviting NMC qualified nurses (Part 1, Part 2), to apply for a training contract to complete the PgDipMSc in Public Health Practice, with University of Bournemouth.

As well as academic study you will experience placements within Health Visiting or School Nursing teams across Hampshire. On successful completion of your studies you will gain a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) qualification in Health Visiting or School Nursing, be offered a post (location to be determined) within our services and paid at salary Band 6.

Successful applicants must have 120 credits at level 6 or a first degree 2:1 or above to complete a PgDipMSc.

Please note we cannot consider your application until you have an NMC registration and a full driving licence and use of a vehicle. This post is subject to Occupational Health Clearance and an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

  • Registered Nurse on Part 1 or 2 of the NMC Register or be a Registered midwife
  • For PgDip/MSc course a first level degree in a related subject (2.1 class or above) or an equivalent qualification from an approved university
  • Full driving licence with own access to vehicle
