Faculty / Directorate

Student and Academic Services (SAAS) is responsible for providing a wide and diverse range of services to all our students from the start to the end of the student journey, including Student Funding, Registration, Financial Welfare, Admissions, Graduation, Student Welfare, Careers & Employability and Academic Quality.

Role

An opportunity has arisen for a challenging but rewarding role within our Student Finance and Welfare Team for an Assistant Manager, to oversee and provide functional responsibility for a wide variety of student focussed areas; our online pre-induction service, operational management of the University fee matrix, ID card production, student correspondence documentation and scholarships and bursaries. As well as providing information and guidance internally on the management of fees and related functionality within student system (SAP).

This role provides a pivotal role in the “onboarding” of students and other parts of the student journey, working closely with our Student Gateway, Registration and Student Funding teams, as well as Faculty Offices, Immigration Compliance and our Income Team.

Alongside the student aspects of the role, you will be required to:

  • Carry out data processing and management to ensure the fees are correctly inputted into the system and reporting needs are met.
  • Work with our IT team as you will take the business lead on system developments and improved service delivery. Having a working knowledge of SAP student database is desirable.
  • You will draw on previous experience from within the sector and have a strong working knowledge of the student lifecycle
  • Understand the importance of the student onboarding experience and the need for accurate fee information.
  • Manage competing priorities efficiently
  • Provide day-to-day supervision (not line management) to staff who will support the delivery of functional aspects of your role, while working closely with their managers to effectively manage resources across the teams.

The role is on a full time (37 hours per week), fixed term contract for up to 9 months (or when the postholder returns) to cover a maternity leave. Internal secondments are welcomed. This position can be carried out on a hybrid basis with the expectation of being on campus at least 2 days a week. However, there does need to be some flexibility in regards to this based on service demand/peak periods.

  • You will be able to communicate and consult with a wide range of stakeholders and our customers (students and non-students).
