To create the outstanding equipment that clients expect from us, we need to source the very best parts and suppliers. You will aim to fulfil the category strategy for your area and work to our established guidelines and processes, which include Early Supplier Engagement agreements and the wider Category strategy. Naturally, cost, quality and risk will all be key factors. You’ll negotiate and analyse to ensure we get the best deals and products. Success means understanding what the business needs and working closely with suppliers. In a global organisation like JCB, that’s no small feat.

About You

This is a role where expertise and credibility count. You’ll need proven experience and the ability to strike the best deals for the business. Good communication skills and influence will be essential, along with a gift for building relationships. A CIPS/MCIPS qualification would certainly be an advantage. With these talents, you’ll be equipped to help more junior team members develop – but to really excel, you need motivation, enthusiasm and the drive to take the business forward.

You will also need a detailed understanding of Purchasing tools and processes including:

• Category Management
• Budget Planning and Reporting
• Supplier Contracts
• Project Management
• Practical Problem Solving
• Advanced Negotiation Techniques
• Inventory Management Understanding
• Management Systems knowledge (ISO, PDCA, TQM, etc)
