Job Description

The role
Fugro are now recruiting a stores labourer to join their team in Consett. Working as part of the warehouse team and reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for receiving, unloading and registering soil samples which have been acquired by our site teams and need to be sent to the laboratory team for geotechnical analysis. You will ensure that records of sample locations are tracked as the samples move through the laboratory and that samples are disposed of once testing is complete. In addition, you will be required to keep accurate administrative records and undertake general maintenance of the warehouse equipment and facilities. As well as driving balance and narrow aisle forklift trucks within the warehouse, you will also need to package samples for dispatch if they are required elsewhere and from time to time, drive to other locations to deliver samples and consumables.

Who You’ll Be Working With

The warehouse team comprises the Supervisor and other Assistant(s). However, you will also be working as part of the wider Fugro team including management, laboratory technicians and field staff.

Here’s What a Typical Day Would Be Like

Taking part in team toolbox talk prior to shift activities Carrying out independent or team tasks such as receiving and unloading samples and delivering samples to the laboratory Using MS Excel to track samples as they move through the testing in the laboratory Taking responsibility for your own Health and Safety and that of others around you

Essential

Who we’re looking for:

General computer literacy including Microsoft Excel Strong communication, teamwork, planning and problem-solving skills Adaptive to changing context of work tasks Ability to work in a safe and risk aware manner
Desirable
Experience of working in a similar role Holds a Counterbalance and/or Narrow Aisle Forklift Certificate Holds a Full UK driving licence
