Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced surveyors to join our Capital Investment Team to carry out Stock Condition and Energy Performance surveys on Birmingham City Council’s residential housing stock.

Birmingham City Council are keen to encourage applications from graduates who would like to work in the sector and can meet the requirements of the post.

The successful candidates will carry out investigations, support tenants on repairs issues, write detailed repair and stock condition reports, and confidently respond to enquiries and complaints both verbally and in writing. You will also be expected to check surveys completed by others to ensure accuracy of data provided and identify learning points.

The role requires knowledge of residential maintenance, a qualification to a minimum Higher National Diploma in construction or equivalent, and a Domestic Energy Assessor qualification to allow you to produce and lodge Energy Performance Certificates.

You will be experienced in inspecting and identifying building elements, assessing their condition and have the ability to diagnose building defects, identify hazards and action appropriately, including order remedial works where required. You must also possess excellent communication skills to ensure our customers have a clear understanding of the survey work being undertaken.

You will be lone working when visiting our tenant’s in their homes, accordingly, you will be required to carry out health & safety risk assessments and ensure lone working procedures are followed.
