Overview of the role
Following the success of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham City Council produced a major events strategy to recognise the city’s ambition to host other major events, all of which have a purpose and strive to deliver a positive impact for the city and citizens. To support the delivery of the communications strategy and major events strategy that protects and enhances the reputation of the council. To lead on the creation, delivery and evaluation of the council’s key events and campaigns. To ensure that all of the team’s planned objectives and outcomes are delivered on time and on budget. To identify and maximise all opportunities for budget saving and income generation across the team and wider teams across the council. To support the leadership and vision to establish a strong reputation for the communications team both internally and externally and one based on results and outcomes.
About Us
The position will sit in the Corporate Communications team working closely with the Sport, Events, Culture and Communities team. The Communications team sit at the heart of the organisation creating press releases, internal communications, marketing campaigns, social media, internal communications and more.
The team are driven and experts in their fields. The communications team reputation is known through the local area and internally, for the level of professionalism, accuracy and creativity.
The successful applicant will be a core part of this award winning team.
About You
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated and experienced communicator who is able to work under their own initiative as well as taking direction and advice from the wider communications team and council. A can-do, team player attitude is a must as well as the ability to deliver communications content and more for marketing campaigns and press enquiries to required deadlines.
As a Senior Communications Manager (Events) you will collaborate with the wider team, supporting the Assistant Director of Communications and Head of Communications and using your creative thinking to ensure all initiatives meet deadlines and objectives of the client.
You will work with the existing corporate communications team to support the growth of the business, while building relationships across the council to understand the organisations requirements.
