As a staff food service supervisor, you will play a vital role with the service of food in the restaurant, hospitality, through vending machines and for patient catering.

The role involves and not limiting to supervising staff, preparing food, do customer service, stores duties, cleaning duties, delivering and collection of patient meals trolley in an emergency or as required.

As a centre of excellence, you will be offering a person-centred approach to the welcoming, ambience and comfort of the customers

Support the values and objectives of the department by sustaining a high professional attitude in all aspects of the job role. Sustain the ability to remain calm and polite under pressure, whilst maintaining a high degree of tact, diplomacy and integrity

Specifically, responsible for the direct supervision of the cafe team across all shift patterns

Support the Catering Department’s requirement to adhere to the “Food Law”; maintaining awareness of the Food Standard’s Framework Agreement on local authority food law enforcement, food hygiene rating schemes and the Food Law Code of Practise in respect of Environmental Health inspections.

Ensure compliance with Food safety and Hygiene standards whilst cooking, chilling and storing food items.

Operating the cash register and taking payments from customers and producing the required supporting information on a sales reconciliation sheet.

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness both in the front and back of house.

Ensure stock rotation is done and items are properly labelled and stored in accordance with the Food Safety standards of the Trust.

Complete all relevant records and documentation as required by the departments policies and procedures

In conjunction with the requirements of the Restaurant Chef assume specific responsibility for the daily supervision and monitoring of the Restaurant team. Take responsibility for prioritising own work load, which can be unpredictable, and supervise the team in conjunction with the rota to meet specific deadlines and the needs of the service

Complete all appropriate records and documentation as required by the department’s policies and procedures to include food produced for the restaurant, vending and hospitality including items sold and wastage to assist with stock control.

Clean all surfaces and equipment in the kitchen, servery, dining area and stores in line with the Catering Food Safety and Hygiene Manual.

Carry out daily and weekly cleaning tasks as directed through the cleaning schedules and complete the required paperwork in accordance with the Catering Food Safety and Hygiene Manual.

Undertake stock checks and the cashing up process within the restaurant, stores, vending machines and mobile sales, ensuring that the Trusts financial procedures are fully complied with.

Ensure that the storage of all stock is in the correct environment, ensuring that a stock rotation system is strictly followed and any stock found to be near the use by / best before date is reported to the relevant person in charge.

Monitor & record the fridge and freezer temperatures, reporting any fall in temperature to Estates team.

Report any work difficulties and potential hazards such as equipment defects promptly to the responsible line manager

To work cleanly and effectively at all times, in line with the Hospital Health & Safety Policy and the Catering Services Department Food Safety & Hygiene Manual
