Job Overview

Are you a Specialty doctor that has a broad experience working with General Adults? Are you someone that thrives off the involvement of improving psychiatric services?

We are looking for someone like you to join our mental health team, which provides psychiatric support to the Taunton Community Mental Health and Assertive Outreach team, alongside 4 other senior psychiatry colleagues.

You will be joining a highly performing team and be supported by 2, full time consultants in Taunton and 1.7 WTE Associate specialists. As well as this you’ll collaboratively work alongside the HHT and EI teams, and work on the same site as the Inpatient ward and PICU. This has allowed the development of strong working relationships between the teams and improved patient care.

Main duties of the job

Our community services have expanded across the Trust with concomitant expansion in staff, as we have built up a new service called Open Mental Health in the last 2 years. The service works closely with primary care, the wider community and the voluntary sector and includes a wide variety of specialists including psychologists, assistant psychologists, liaison staff, eating disorder leads and support workers. This has opened up the options for patients referred or being discharged from mental health services. We’ve also improved our services through Linked software and interface meetings, to ensure all referrals have a considered and appropriate offer with reduced repeated assessments, enabling a more holistic service with greater satisfaction for staff and patients

Ideally we are looking for someone with entry onto the GMC Specialist Register and that has their mental health act section 12 approval or plans to achieve , however we can offer you a highly competitive and flexible benefits packagein addition to outstanding support and development opportunities you’ll receive. This could include supporting you with gaining your Section 12 Approval / Approved Clinician status or helping you obtain your GMC registration through the GMC sponsorship route.
