Job Summary

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership are looking for a speciality Doctor to join one of our wards within Springview, Clatterbridge Health Park.

This is a new post which been created to facilitate and improve the acute care model of patient management. The model provides dedicated medical input to inpatient activities. This will improve the speed of decision making, readily freeing up nursing time to facilitate regular 1:1 therapist contact with patients, ensure IP beds are used efficiently and effectively. The Post holder will primarily focus on providing an excellent care for clients under the inpatient service. However he/she is expected to work seamlessly with the inpatient and HTT consultants across the age spectrum, but will not have responsibility for clients with older adults or organic problems

Main duties of the job

• To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures. This may include assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework.
• To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
• To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively, and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
• To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
• To participate in annual appraisal.
• To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
• To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
• To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment.You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
