Sovereign Housing is one of the UK’s largest housing associations, providing quality affordable homes in happy successful places. We operate within strong and sustainable communities for people priced out of the housing market. Driven by our social purpose, our residents are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to say that what we do makes a real difference to people’s lives. We are a great place to work

The role.

We are now on the hunt for a Specialist Support Worker. This is a permanent role based on the Isle of Wight where you will be joining our experienced team in The Foyer doing valuable work providing housing related support to young people aged 16-30.

We do things differently at Sovereign. As a Specialist Support Worker you will work within a culture that operates in a psychologically informed way. This way of working is inbuilt into our policies and approach. We are person centred, using a trauma informed approach, understanding challenges and problems and responding in a way that achieves the best possible outcomes for our young people. We are proud of what we do, and we want you to be proud too.

You will manage complex case loads and as such will need to have practice experience either in a mental health setting or through work with substance misuse. You will form an integral link between the Foyer and other specialist services making sure lines of communication are fluid and transparent. As an experienced member of the team you will have a natural leadership style and offer support and guidance on best practice in supporting our customers and young people.

As Specialist Support Worker you’ll share the satisfaction of doing something that really matters. You will work in partnership with customers to help them navigate and choose options around housing, education and employment whilst respecting the customers right to choice and control. You will support colleagues and customers in a way that maximises their self-sufficiency. Empowering our customers to ensure they receive services and benefits they are entitled to is key to our purpose.

We are open to the experience you bring, the right values, approach and willingness to support and develop others however are critical.

What you can expect from us:

In return we commit to value you for who you are and what you will bring to the role. We will acknowledge and reward the work you do with a great suite of benefits that includes.

  • A suite of personal development programmes
  • Discounts with a huge array of partners such as our fab tech reward which allows you buy market leading technology and spread the cost with no interest

An enhanced DBS checks will be undertaken for the successful candidate.

If this role and our culture and approach grabs your attention, we’d really love to have a chat with you to explore your future career with us.

Interviews will be held on 24th & 25th June 2021
