This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of specialist clinical skills and supervisory experience working within the stroke pathway physiotherapy team. Predominately an inpatient service, based in Ninewells and Royal Victoria Hospital in Dundee. The post holder may also be required to work across Dundee community settings during the working week to support earlier discharge and smooth transitions of care. You will deliver high quality patient care across the stroke pathway and will work closely with the stroke multidisciplinary team based within inpatients and community services.

You should have relevant advanced clinical skills/knowledge evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards of rehabilitation.You will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in a supported environment with a focus on person centred care, evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service in both hospital and community settings.

You will carry a complex caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide specialised resource and training to other healthcare staff/other agencies/patients/carers and relatives and have an active involvement in service development, clinical governance and clinical research.

The Physiotherapy service in Dundee is dedicated to the delivery of the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing excellent patient care. Positive staff and patient experience is a priority and at the forefront of everything we do.

Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.

Hours of work are: 37.5 hours per week.
