Job OverviewAn exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a full time qualified Occupational Therapist to develop their clinical skills under the Occupational Therapy Career Framework working within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, based at Caebryn, Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, covering the County of South Carmarthenshire. You will be expected to deliver holistic, client centred care and effectively contribute clinically to promote independence and maintain functional skills whilst living at home in the community.This post is advertised as a Band 6, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby 70% of the top of Band 6 will be payable in first 12 months, then 75% from 12 months to 24 months. Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within a 12 to 24 month period. Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.Main duties of the jobThe post offers an excellent opportunity to work with other OTs in a dynamic multi-disciplinary Team. You will have a specific interest in Older Adult Mental Health and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the role. You will be keen to develop Best Practice in compliance with Dementia Standards and A Healthier Wales.The post holder will be required to develop positive relationships between all healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, maintaining good communication across all areas.The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and intervention of clients who experience memory problems. You will have a varied caseload to include younger onset dementia sufferers and individuals living in the community with functional mental health issues. You will act as a care coordinator to a delegated caseload with defined Occupational Therapy needs.There will be opportunity to develop group work skills and deliver ground-breaking, evidenced based interventions such as Journey Through Dementia and Recovery Through Activity. The Programme has been developed in partnership with people with dementia who wanted to access a group that offers practical advice and support of how to continue living well with their condition.Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.
