With a budget of around £270m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

Job Overview

As a safeguarding children’s nurse and safeguarding children’s trainer you will support the delivery of a comprehensive, co-ordinated and quality child protection advisory service to a range of health personnel across Stockton and Hartlepool Trust Services to safeguard the unborn baby and welfare of all children.

Main duties of the job

Through grounded safeguarding knowledge and experience the Specialist Midwife / Senior Nurse will be able to provide safeguarding education through training and facilitation of individual and group supervision as guided by local and national policies and procedures regarding child protection. Supporting the development of safeguarding knowledge and skills in our trust staff, they will be enabled to identify early the support children may require when exposed to life circumstances that make them more vulnerable and when it is required to provide protection where children are at risk of actual or potential harm. The role requires supporting staff to understand and guide them in providing the right support, in the right place at the right time.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities will primarily to provide safeguarding support and advice through 1-1 and group supervision and training. However additional support will be provided as a Senior Nurse Children’s Safeguarding and Trainer when and as required to maintain a generic overview of the challenges and vulnerabilities of safeguarding children at all ages as guided by children’s rights and safeguarding children legislation.
